About our Farm
Roam Acres Farm is located in Taylors, SC, in a suburban area. While we hate to see less and less land around us, we do appreciate being conveniently located for many, as we are only 15 minutes from downtown Greenville, Travelers Rest, and Greer.
We operate on 19 acres, some of which is still wooded, and have a modest 6 stall barn where our herd rests safely at night. During sessions and lessons, we utilize our roundpen, large arena, pastures, as well as trails through our bit of forrest.
About Lacy
Lacy has been passionate about horses most of her life, she began riding at age six and trained in various disciplines including barrel racing, hunter jumpers, dressage, and trail riding. While she enjoyed competing, she became more interested in the intricacies of the horse-human relationship as she grew older. As a teen that grappled with anxiety, she found comfort and solace in her time with her horses and decided she wanted to make her life’s work helping others find the same.
While attending North Greenville University, she became Eagala certified which began her career path in equine assisted therapy and learning. She put this training to use for several years partnering with a local therapist to provide equine assisted psychotherapy to children and families until discovering the Natural Lifemanship model, which showed to also be in line with with her values and mission on the farm, allowing her to pull from both schools depending on what is best for both the client and horse. Lacy has expanded her offerings to now include partnering with other local mental health providers as well as offering Equine Assisted Learning sessions both with individuals and groups.
Outside of her focus on horses & helping others, Lacy is a wife and mother to two beautiful children, Ada and Silas. Along with them and her husband, Austin, they have two dogs and love music, being outdoors on their property, and vacationing to Beaufort, SC & Cherokee, NC.
